Job Overview:
The Audio Visual Support Specialist II is responsible for delivering technical assistance and installing all instructional facilities across the campus. This role involves the installation and maintenance of presentation classrooms, conference rooms, digital signage systems, conferencing systems, and Emergency P.A. systems. The specialist will monitor and respond to help desk inquiries and provide mentorship to junior Audio Visual Technicians.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Operate independently and collaboratively to facilitate technical planning, setup, support, and teardown for special events.
- Troubleshoot intricate system challenges.
- Program advanced control systems.
- Design audio-visual systems.
- Offer AV and IT technical support as required throughout the institution.
- Oversee AV-related projects by coordinating and implementing strategies with department heads, faculty, staff, alumni, corporations, and university administrators.
- Availability for some weekend and evening hours is necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED with two (2) years of audio-visual technical support experience; OR an associate's degree or higher with some audio-visual technical support experience.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid U.S. driver's license.
- Must be at least 19 years of age at the time of hire and possess an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report in compliance with university policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Expertise:
- Exceptional customer service, project management, and communication abilities.
- Proficient in conveying information clearly to end-users.
- Advanced understanding of audio-visual systems.
- Capable of setting up, configuring, and calibrating audio-visual equipment, particularly in control system programming and interface design.
Preferred Certifications:
- A+, CTS, and other industry certifications (Dell, Cisco, Microsoft, Apple, Crestron, QSC, etc.).
- Experience in managing student employees and utilizing trouble ticketing software.
- Familiarity with troubleshooting Windows-based systems and software, as well as basic IT network and user administration.
