Job Overview:


The Cost Accountant will assist the Controller in performing cost accounting functions and aid in generating the necessary information to support operational plans.

The responsibilities of the Cost Accountant include:

1. Managing the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes related to cost accounting.
2. Establishing standard unit product costs, inventory valuation, pricing support, and providing weekly and monthly forecast assistance.
3. Conducting daily analyses of cost of sales, including Raw, Finished, and WIP costs by market channel.
4. Ensuring accurate reporting and valuation of inventory.
5. Reviewing and maintaining allowances for Excess, Obsolescence, Shrink, LCM, and Warranty.
6. Performing product cost analyses, which encompass detailed costed bills of material, labor, subcontract costs, tooling, and other non-recurring charges.
7. Maintaining ongoing standard costs for new products and conducting annual reviews and updates of all parts.
8. Providing timely and accurate responses to Corporate/Segment accounting requests for information within the area of responsibility.

Additionally, the role involves assisting in the collection and reporting of closed work orders and monthly labor costs for selected products for management and measurement purposes.

The position will receive work assignments and guidance from the Controller.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:
1. A minimum of a Four-Year Degree in Accounting or Finance with a focus on cost accounting.
2. At least 5+ years of finance/accounting experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in the Aerospace/Defense industry is preferred.
3. Familiarity with US GAAP.
4. Experience in general ledger, cost accounting, financial analysis, and SOX compliance.
5. Strong understanding of an ERP business system (SAP preferred).
