POSITION SUMMARY

The Housing Services Coordinator plays a crucial role in identifying appropriate housing solutions for program participants and their families, aiding them in achieving stable and healthy independent living. This position involves community outreach to build resources that support individuals experiencing homelessness. As a vital member of the service team, the Housing Services Coordinator provides leadership based on experience and engages in all phases of client support: assessment, service planning, engagement, and delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and secure housing options for clients and their families, including referrals to shelters as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive housing database linking clients to available apartments.
  • Engage with landlords to educate them about the program and the specific needs of participants.
  • Lead community outreach initiatives, representing the organization at housing-related meetings and forming partnerships with community stakeholders.
  • Create support systems tailored to individual housing needs; coordinate move-in processes, rental negotiations, and necessary service referrals.
  • Facilitate access to community resources to assist both tenants and landlords in resolving issues that may lead to eviction.
  • As part of the case management team, provide information referrals, crisis intervention, and assistance with securing permanent housing for participants.
  • Support case managers in conducting thorough screenings and assessments to gather relevant information for developing Individual Service Plans.
  • Coordinate follow-up services in collaboration with the case management team.
  • Perform duties of a Case Manager or Housing Specialist as required.
  • Conduct outreach to the homeless population, coordinating efforts with community organizations to enhance service delivery.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to pass a fingerprint clearance and background check, including criminal history, personal references, and employment verification.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Services or a related field, or
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience (four years).

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of three years of experience working with veterans, individuals in recovery, or those experiencing homelessness.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Familiarity with HMIS (Homeless Management Information System).
