EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ASSURANCE SERVICES - Position Announcement

NASW Assurance Services, Inc. (ASI) is pleased to announce an opening for the position of Executive Director. ASI operates as a wholly owned for-profit subsidiary of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). While functioning independently from NASW, ASI plays a crucial role in enhancing the value of NASW membership by providing significant benefits and financial support to its nonprofit parent through dividends and sponsorships.

ASI's operational model is distinctive, maintaining a compact, dedicated team of approximately 14 employees, with the majority of functions outsourced. These outsourced functions encompass insurance operations, accounting, investment management, and tax compliance. ASI oversees various lines of business, including Group Life & Health Insurance, Professional Liability Insurance, Risk Management Seminars, Membership Recruitment, a Captive Insurance Company, and a Risk Retention Group that covers liability and property and casualty insurance lines. As an insurance agency across all states, ASI adeptly manages the marketing, administration, and delivery of these products to members, generating fees and commissions.

The Executive Director will provide visionary leadership and strategic guidance to ensure the organization's success in delivering insurance and assurance services to social workers. Key responsibilities include overseeing all facets of the organization, from financial management and operations to stakeholder relations and program development. The Executive Director will ensure alignment with ASI's mission to support and protect social workers.

Strategic planning and organizational positioning are vital components of this role. The Executive Director will establish and implement organizational strategy and direction, identifying market opportunities and differentiating from competitors. Collaborating with senior officers to ensure company growth and sustainability is essential. The Executive Director must maintain an understanding of current professional issues and their implications for the organization and stakeholders, providing leadership direction. Representing ASI at significant functions, industry events, and public meetings is also a key aspect of the role. Additionally, the Executive Director will evaluate and respond to industry trends, advocating for policies and initiatives that support social workers.

Financial and operational oversight are fundamental responsibilities. The Executive Director will supervise the financial health of the organization, ensuring sound financial planning, budgeting, and reporting. Managing operational processes to ensure efficiency, compliance, and high-quality service delivery is essential. Building strong relationships with social workers, professional associations, donors, regulators, and community partners is vital. The Executive Director will ensure program quality and organizational stability through the development and implementation of standards, controls, systems, and procedures.

Effective board relations are critical. The Executive Director will keep the Board fully informed on the organization's condition and all significant influencing factors. Assisting the Board in articulating its role and accountabilities and focusing on long-range strategic issues is a key responsibility. Collaborating with Board officers and committee chairs to maximize Board member involvement and performance is also essential.

Qualifications: Candidates should possess an MBA and a bachelor's degree in business, finance, risk management and insurance, or related fields. A minimum of 15 years in various executive management/leadership roles across different businesses and industries is required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate critical competencies in commitment to results, business acumen, leading change, and motivation. A deep understanding of insurance products, risk management, and the regulatory environment governing insurance services is essential.

Skills and Abilities: Strong strategic thinking, business acumen, and results-driven leadership are required. The Executive Director must have robust financial management, problem-solving, and analytical skills, and demonstrate effective collaboration and consensus-building abilities. Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment are crucial, as is proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and effective use of technology.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic leader to make a significant impact in the social work field through ASI's innovative insurance and assurance services. If you are committed to excellence, integrity, and a collaborative spirit, we invite you to consider this challenging and rewarding role.

How to Apply: Please submit your resume and a cover letter detailing your qualifications and vision for NASW Assurance Services, Inc. We look forward to considering your application.
