Key Responsibilities

As an Engineer/Senior Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for delivering engineering and technical service support to the NAVSEA 05V Ship Design Manager and PMS 312D PARM Assistant Program Manager (APM). Your role will involve:

  • Conducting technical evaluations of Navy schematics related to aircraft carriers.
  • Collaborating with engineering and design teams to pinpoint necessary modifications.
  • Ensuring adherence to quality standards and specifications.
  • Addressing field issues and resolving conflicts effectively.
  • Managing a variety of projects, from minor repairs to advanced construction initiatives.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering (preferably Structural or Mechanical) or equivalent technical experience (minimum of ten years in an engineering capacity).

Military Experience: Preferred, particularly in aircraft carrier maintenance and modernization.

  • Proficient in managing DoD Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
Certifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Access, Visio, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
Experience

A minimum of ten years of progressive experience in managing complex engineering or technical projects is essential. The ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with geographically dispersed teams is crucial.

Functional Responsibilities

Support the NAVSEA 05V Ship Design Manager in Washington, DC by developing and implementing policies and procedures to identify and rectify technical drawing data associated with the NIMITZ Class aircraft carrier program. This includes:

  • Overseeing the drawing modification process.
  • Creating project plans that demonstrate the capability to meet deadlines.
  • Monitoring the readiness and completion of assigned tasks.
  • Assisting in the development of program documents and analytical presentations.
Specialized Experience

10+ years of experience in test engineering management within major Navy engineering or related technical programs focusing on Structural and H, M & E systems.

Additional Requirements
  • Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • Citizenship: Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required due to the technical nature of the work.
Work Environment

This position involves both office and shipboard environments, requiring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The role may necessitate climbing stairs and ladders, as well as prolonged standing for certain shipboard tasks.

Contacts

Regular interaction with government and military personnel at various levels is expected.

Complexity

The role involves managing a significant volume of data and requires flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and emerging policies.

Supervision

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while coordinating efforts with senior government and military leaders is essential.
