Role Purpose

The Mortgage Consultant plays a crucial role in promoting and selling residential mortgage and home equity loan products to both prospective and existing clients, aiming to meet established production goals. This position involves regular client interactions outside of the bank's locations, as well as at our branches when convenient for the client. The Consultant will cultivate a robust network of referral sources, including retail branch partners, real estate agents, builders, and other influential professionals.

The Mortgage Consultant must possess a thorough understanding of the bank's mortgage and home equity offerings and stay informed about relevant regulations governing the mortgage industry. They will provide outstanding customer service throughout the loan process, from initial consultation to closing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve or surpass production, referral, and customer satisfaction targets.
  • Engage with clients through face-to-face meetings within a designated sales territory to discuss lending options and assess financial information.
  • Proactively develop a pipeline by connecting with external sources for new business referrals.
  • Ensure an exceptional customer experience while guiding clients on product choices.
  • Accurately input application data into the loan origination system.
  • Collect necessary documentation from applicants and maintain communication throughout the loan process.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to other business lines by participating in team meetings and joint sales efforts.
  • Identify client needs during the mortgage interview process and facilitate referrals to other services.
  • Maintain an updated sales referral system.
  • Collaborate with the loan fulfillment team to ensure efficient processing and compliance with regulations.
  • Enhance professional knowledge through continuous education and participation in industry organizations.
  • Build a diverse referral network through outreach and community involvement.
  • Participate in community events that promote the bank and homeownership.
  • Attend Consumer Lending meetings as required.
  • Share product knowledge with colleagues.
  • Lead initiatives related to Consumer and Residential Lending.
  • Complete required training and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to handle a dynamic workload.
  • Excellent communication skills, with public speaking experience preferred.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial information.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Five years of experience in residential mortgage lending or related sales preferred.
  • S.A.F.E. Act registration required at the time of employment.
