Overview

Tactical Engineering & Analysis is in search of a skilled Cybersecurity Systems Engineer to contribute to the Navy Enterprise Architecture (EA) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) initiatives. The ideal candidate will engage throughout the program development lifecycle of platforms, enclaves, and systems, adhering to the Defense in Depth Information Assurance Functional Architecture (DFIA).

Key Responsibilities

Primary Duties:

  • Formulate and uphold system security requirements in alignment with DoD, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Department of Navy (DoN), and Command Site security guidelines, standards, and processes throughout the engineering process.
  • Deliver security engineering and Assessment and Authorization (A&A) evaluations for the program, ensuring the planning, scheduling, implementation, and integration of all system resources while maintaining IA and security compliance within DoD, Navy, and Command Site local system security directives.
  • Prepare and document security contributions for systems across their lifecycle by collaborating closely with all engineering disciplines, including but not limited to: network, software, hardware, and integration; system administrators; help desk personnel; and the Command Site Information Assurance Management (IAM) office. Collect and import system security test results and other relevant security test analysis data. The Contractor shall generate and maintain data and provide regular updates to Government system/cyber test personnel.
  • Gather and sustain the necessary, current system security accreditation and associated documentation for operational afloat systems. The Contractor shall also conduct laboratory, schoolhouse facilities, and shipboard verification of such accreditation/documentation, as specified by DoD policies.
  • Execute cybersecurity testing that leads to the verification and validation of system cybersecurity requirements.

Typical Working Environment:

  • General office and laboratory work setting.

Equipment Utilized:

  • Computer, keyboard/mouse, and other standard office processing tools.

Essential Physical Tasks:

  • Capability to consistently use a computer, keyboard, and mouse. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. regularly.

Written Communication:

  • Accountable for producing error-free written reports and presentations.

Verbal Communication:

  • Must effectively articulate needs and requirements to internal staff, clients, and Program Managers to adequately address tasks assigned.
Qualifications

Skills / Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical field is preferred, or a minimum of 4 years of proven professional systems engineering experience with a major DoD platform in lieu of a degree.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience with DoD major platforms, weapon systems, Command and Control, or fire control systems programs, with concurrent experience as a team leader.
  • At least three (3) years of cybersecurity experience in preparing and submitting documentation for obtaining Navy/DoD security A&A for major weapon systems.

Customer Interaction:

  • Engaging directly with stakeholders, including other industry partners and customers as necessary in the execution of essential functions and duties.

Project Management / Staff Oversight:

  • Promote a respectful work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED with four years of experience can substitute;
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline is preferred.

Required Certifications:

  • Information Assurance Technical Level 1 or
  • Information Assurance Management Level 1 or
  • IASAE Level 1

Work Schedule:

  • 9/80 schedule.
  • Must be adaptable to changing company, contract, or client response timelines and schedule requests.

Compensation Range: $110,000.00 to $135,000.00 annually, depending on experience.

U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

Security Clearance:

Candidates must possess an active clearance OR the capability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance and will undergo a U.S. security background investigation (i.e., favorable background investigation/credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be necessary. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
