The Vocational Support Specialist is responsible for delivering tailored vocational assistance to individuals with disabilities, taking into account their unique strengths, skills, and aspirations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a varied caseload of clients receiving OPWDD and/or ACCES-VR services.
  • Offer personalized support in job readiness, search, development, placement, and coaching.
  • Evaluate clients' skills, capabilities, and career interests.
  • Conduct assessments in community-based work settings.
  • Provide vocational counseling and guidance to support clients' employment objectives.
  • Collaborate with employers to secure competitive and integrated job opportunities.
  • Assist clients in learning and executing job tasks through on-the-job coaching.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Managers and Supervisors at job sites.
  • Deliver travel training and other work-related support as necessary.

As most responsibilities are performed in community settings, candidates should be self-sufficient and capable of exercising sound judgment. Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills are essential. Effective interpersonal and communication abilities, along with proficient writing and organizational skills, are critical. Flexibility in adjusting work hours to accommodate client needs is also required.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Preferred: College degree.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
