Position Summary

The Employment Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering prevocational services to individuals with disabilities. Our community-based prevocational initiatives are designed to prepare individuals for competitive, integrated employment through volunteer opportunities and work readiness training. The Employment Specialist will not only teach work-readiness skills but also facilitate community volunteer activities and assess individual capabilities, including following instructions, task management, stress handling, and safety practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a varied caseload of individuals receiving services from OPWDD and/or ACCES-VR.
  • Develop and deliver work-readiness training programs.
  • Create and adjust daily schedules to accommodate client needs.
  • Monitor client performance and provide service recommendations based on observations.
  • Engage with local employers to establish volunteer opportunities.
  • Support individuals in learning and executing volunteer tasks through coaching and training.
  • Collaborate with Care Coordination Organizations, state agencies, families, and other resources to ensure coordinated services.
  • Complete all necessary documentation, including case notes, monthly reports, and annual evaluations.

Given that most responsibilities are performed in the community, candidates must demonstrate independence and sound judgment. Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills are essential. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, along with proficient writing and organizational abilities, are critical. Flexibility in adjusting work hours to meet client support needs is required.

Full-time and Part-time positions available.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or higher.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong case management and communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are mandatory.
