Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer - Mechanical Engineer III to join our team at James Fisher Technologies. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading projects and providing technical expertise to support the design, development, and implementation of complex mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Develop and maintain technical specifications, designs, and documentation for mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, and apply this knowledge to improve our products and services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering and design, with a focus on complex systems and projects.
  • Proven track record of leading projects and teams to successful completion.
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in CAD software and experience with FEA and stress analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Nuclear or high-hazardous remote special purpose machinery design experience.
  • Conversant with nuclear design procedures and regulations.
  • Professional Engineer or working towards achieving.
  • Experience with calculations (FEA, stress/fatigue/vibration analysis) and knowledge of relevant EH&S legislation.
  • Knowledge of drawing principles and standards, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Ability to operate both 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D design (Inventor and Vault system/SolidWorks) software packages.
Working Conditions

This role will primarily be based in an office environment, with occasional work in the fabrication/machine shop and outdoor testing areas. Depending on the project, there may be occasional travel to customer job sites.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work on a computer (standing or sitting) for most of the day and use standard office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members, customers, and vendors.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of objects, materials, or equipment, typically up to 25-50 pounds.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and crawling to access and inspect equipment or systems.
