Position Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer - ME IV to enhance our team in Loveland, CO. At JFT, we prioritize recruiting and retaining top talent, offering every employee the opportunity to shape their career in a culture that values initiative, respect, curiosity, and passion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a diverse team of design engineers to develop and implement innovative solutions for hazardous environments.
  • Oversee all technical aspects of design, analysis, production, and delivery of projects within your team.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison for customers on all projects.
  • Transform basic specifications into detailed design concepts with minimal supervision.
  • Generate and refine engineering solutions from initial concepts.
  • Create detailed manufacturing drawings, including limits, fits, welding symbols, and tolerances.
  • Review and approve detailed part and assembly drawings.
  • Conduct comprehensive engineering calculations to support design efforts.
  • Produce, evaluate, and endorse technical reports and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with contract and quality program requirements through technical files.
  • Provide guidance to team members on standards and procedures.
  • Specify components and systems based on analytical and practical experience.
  • Manage change control and contract variations.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines as part of a design team.
  • Conduct HAZOP studies and develop Safety Cases.
  • Support project leads and managers with technical expertise.
  • Adhere to established processes and procedures.
  • Assist in business development efforts with project quotations.
  • Implement cost-saving innovations to reduce design times.
  • Maintain CAD data and documentation integrity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering and design.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a technical design or team lead role.
  • Experience in nuclear or specialized machinery design is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with nuclear design protocols.
  • Professional Engineer designation or progress towards it is preferred.
  • Experience with engineering calculations, including FEA and stress analysis.
  • Understanding of drawing principles and standards, particularly geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Proficient in both 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D design software (Inventor, Vault, SolidWorks).
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental, health, and safety legislation.
  • Basic business acumen and commercial awareness.
  • Familiarity with EFD's, P&ID's, and MFD's.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or NQA-1 Quality Assurance Programs.

Working Conditions:
This role primarily involves office work, with occasional responsibilities in fabrication/machine shops and outdoor testing environments. Travel to customer job sites may be required depending on project needs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods and utilize standard office equipment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with team members and clients.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 25-50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring stooping, kneeling, or climbing to inspect equipment.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years in mechanical engineering and design.
  • At least 3 years in a technical design or team lead capacity.
  • Proficient understanding of complex mechanical equipment design and fabrication under quality assurance standards.

This position may involve working with export-controlled items.
