Position Summary
The Public Works Project Manager is responsible for guiding a team of engineering professionals while maintaining effective communication with clients to ensure successful project completion. This role focuses on managing public roadway and utility enhancement initiatives, collaborating closely with experienced leaders and project teams to meet deliverables, timelines, and budgetary constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients daily, crafting proposals and negotiating project scopes and fees.
  • Lead the plan processing efforts at public agencies with responsibility and diligence.
  • Collaborate with external consultants to create comprehensive designs that exceed client expectations.
  • Oversee project staff, including Design Engineers and CAD Operators, fostering mentorship and delegation to meet schedules and budgets.
  • Identify design criteria and supervise efficient design and plan preparation, while enhancing team skills through engagement.
  • Support the Leadership Team in marketing initiatives and client development efforts.
  • Resolve design challenges utilizing engineering calculations and established design standards.
  • Establish project controls to ensure quality in plans and services.
  • Manage timely adjustments to project scope and invoicing processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Current Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Colorado, demonstrating strong knowledge of civil engineering principles applicable to municipal settings.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in designing public roadway infrastructure projects and drafting construction specifications.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a Project Manager role, with exposure to technical applications and project management.
  • Ability to apply civil engineering principles within a service-oriented business context.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience serving as an on-call Engineer for local municipalities.
  • Background in conducting construction inspections and coordinating with contractors.
  • Proficiency in preparing grading plans, utility plans, and site plans for land development using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, along with cost estimation skills.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities, with a desire to thrive in a high-visibility role.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk job site locations as necessary.
  • Capability to carry survey equipment on job sites when required.
  • Valid and current Driver's License.
  • Ability to drive to job sites as needed.
