Job Overview

The Client Relations Manager plays a crucial role in orchestrating, organizing, and scheduling freight operations to ensure optimal truck utilization while minimizing unproductive miles. This position encompasses key areas such as Customer Engagement, Driver Coordination, and Strategic Planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategically plans freight and equipment in designated regions to maximize efficiency and profitability while adhering to DOT regulated Hours of Service.
  • Ensures compliance with contract obligations to provide timely deliveries to customers.
  • Addresses service-related issues promptly, escalating them to the operations team and relevant personnel as necessary.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with drivers, ensuring swift responses to calls, emails, and messages to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversees customer freight shipments, including booking, responding to inquiries, and providing rate quotes.
  • Supervises the entire freight handling process from shipper to receiver.
  • Fosters and nurtures customer relationships within the assigned client base or geographic area.
  • Coordinates and communicates all driver freight details to meet customer and carrier specifications.
  • Manages trailer allocations effectively.
  • Collaborates with Driver Managers to synchronize operators' scheduled home time, downtime, current status, and anticipated availability to ensure continuous freight flow.
  • Builds and sustains professional relationships with operators, operations team members, and clients.
  • Identifies and communicates any potential routing issues that may impact service delivery.
  • Develops action plans to enhance lane profitability and service metrics, updating them with any concerns or delays.
  • Completes all assigned account billing documentation accurately.
  • Handles KPI and other reporting tasks as required by the assigned client.
  • Participates in client-related meetings and may travel to customer sites and terminal locations as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned, including supporting colleagues in achieving organizational goals.
Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent, along with relevant professional experience.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred.
  • Preferred experience in transportation management of at least 5 years.
  • Strong ability to process information accurately and efficiently.
  • Proficient in multitasking and prioritizing workload effectively.
  • Computer literate with the ability to navigate multiple software applications.
  • Exhibits a proactive attitude and a strong desire to learn in a dynamic and demanding environment.
