Position Overview

This role is integral to our mission-driven organization, dedicated to enhancing the lives of unaccompanied immigrant children. The Immigrant Support Services Coordinator will report directly to the HS/PRS Regional Supervisor and will be responsible for delivering virtual case management and supportive referrals to children who have recently been released from federal custody.

Core Responsibilities

The Immigrant Support Services Coordinator will:
  • Conduct virtual assessments to ensure the safety and suitability of the child’s placement with their caregiver (sponsor) while providing information on community resources to address identified needs.
  • Focus on virtual case management that includes screening for needs and facilitating community-based referrals to ensure the child’s enrollment in school, access to legal information, and stability in their placement.
  • Utilize best practices in social work to conduct thorough assessments of the child’s needs and required services.
  • Maintain consistent and timely communication with the supervisor regarding any case-related issues, including child safety, educational access, or legal services.
  • Participate in ongoing supervision and submit detailed documentation in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working with children and youth.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • A commitment to the core mission and values of LIRS, with a focus on empowering refugees and migrants.

Special Requirements

Applicants must be willing to:
  • Clear a criminal background check.
  • Request and clear a Child Abuse and Neglect background check in all states lived within the past five years, with renewals as necessary.
  • Obtain a negative TB Test annually.
  • Complete an FBI fingerprint check every five years.
