Job Summary

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte seeks a highly skilled Director of Communications to lead the development and execution of communication strategies, messaging, and engagement efforts that align with the University's mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish an overarching communication plan and develop annual awareness and engagement strategies to reinforce the plan and promote college priorities.
  • Research and develop multi-channel content that publicizes and promotes the college's programs, leveraging trends and opportunities for media coverage.
  • Create and execute a strategy to support college rankings and awards, collaborating with colleagues in University Communications and college marketing and leadership.
  • Develop and update college branding materials, including web content and high-level, high-visibility pages on the college website.
  • Partner closely with the college's external relations team and report to the sr. director of academic and research communications, with a strong dotted-line reporting relationship to the dean of the Cato College of Education.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment and 3-5 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience writing for a content marketing agency, research or academic institution, freelance writing for clients, or writing for a literary magazine or journal.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Examples of writing that demonstrates the ability to adapt writing style to different audiences and purposes.
