Position: Business Development Manager - Air and Ocean Freight

Existing Client Portfolio Required

Compensation: $75k to $125k base salary plus commission.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a sales role within the Freight Forwarding sector is essential.

Focus: Sales efforts should primarily target International Air and Ocean Freight.

Responsibilities


The selected candidate will take on the role of Regional Sales or Business Development Manager. This individual will be tasked with acquiring and managing a portfolio of clients while driving regional sales for import/export (air/ocean) and domestic/international services. Collaboration with the Branch Manager and Vice President of Sales will be key to enhancing revenue and surpassing sales targets through effective promotion and sales activities within a designated territory.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities through thorough research, prospecting, and qualification. This includes client visits and relationship building within the assigned geographical area.
  • Expand market presence within the designated territory and meet financial targets for volume, revenue, and profit.
  • Successfully secure new business and onboard clients efficiently.
  • Enhance market share within the existing customer base.
  • Maintain regular communication with all clients to ensure high satisfaction levels and address any sales or delivery concerns.
  • Collaborate with the Pricing team to develop client pricing strategies and provide accurate rate quotes.
  • Monitor and manage clients' credit lines in accordance with company policies.
  • Keep the Company’s CRM updated and organized.
  • Provide consistent communication and conduct monthly budget reviews for management.
Client and Supplier Relations
  • Manage allocated customers effectively using established tools to achieve and exceed sales targets.
  • Conduct weekly follow-ups with new clients post-initial shipments.
  • Disseminate information regarding all contracts with customers and suppliers to relevant parties.
  • Ensure that client entertainment activities are conducted professionally and responsibly.
  • Respond promptly to customer requests related to commercial activities, ensuring the highest service levels.
  • Adhere to client service level agreements diligently.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3 years of sales experience in the freight forwarding industry.
  • Proven ability to bring over existing clients (no non-compete restrictions).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and internal teams.
  • A commitment to exceeding client expectations.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and possess a solid understanding of CRM systems.
  • Bringing a book of business is advantageous.
