Position Overview:

The Regional Operations Manager Trainee at Advance Auto Parts is tasked with collaborating closely with the District Manager to oversee all aspects of the designated region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and enhance all dimensions of the business, including personnel, sales, products, and profitability, ensuring alignment with corporate strategies and values.
  • Establish priorities for retail locations to achieve optimal Team Member engagement and customer satisfaction scores, while surpassing financial objectives.
  • Support the enforcement of compliance among managers and Team Members with established company policies, procedures, and standards, including the safeguarding of company assets and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Maintain a customer-centric and high-quality image of the assigned facilities.
  • Analyze operational records and reports from General Managers to forecast sales and assess store profitability, enhancing overall business insight.
  • Evaluate the marketing potential of new and existing store locations, recommending new sites or closures as necessary.
  • Recruit, train, develop, and assess General Manager performance, fostering an inspiring environment that promotes high performance and low turnover.
  • Encourage a diverse and respectful workplace for both Team Members and customers, ensuring recognition and constructive feedback are integral to the team culture.
  • Utilize Regional Staff as resources to expand knowledge in Human Resources, Risk Services, Commercial Sales, and Training.
  • Exhibit a willingness to collaborate and assist in various functions as directed by regional and area leadership.

Essential Skills for Success:

  • Basic understanding of automotive systems is preferred.
  • Proficient in English (Spanish is a plus); capable of effective communication and relationship building with customers, peers, and upper management.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel required; PowerPoint preferred).
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.
  • Understand financial documents, including Profit and Loss Statements.
  • Comprehend all aspects of the business and excel in an integrated operational model.
  • Identify problems, gather information, establish facts, and resolve issues independently.
  • Strategically analyze issues and effectively manage change.
  • Delegate and supervise projects to ensure timely and quality outcomes.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends as required.

Preferred Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience managing a team of General Managers in a dynamic retail environment.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving sales and gross margin targets in a multi-unit setting.
  • Proven track record in managing profitability and demonstrating financial acumen.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree in business or a related field is preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • ASE certification is preferred but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role require frequent standing, walking, sitting, and the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly, and up to 100 pounds occasionally. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
