Success in this role hinges on comprehensive knowledge of the product line, the relevant disease states, and the competitive landscape, coupled with effective sales techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- The RSM will exhibit a profound understanding of Alkermes offerings, associated disease states, and competing products in the market.
- Utilizing approved sales materials and research, the RSM will demonstrate exceptional communication and listening abilities when engaging with targeted healthcare professionals. The role requires adeptness in employing the Alkermes sales model to foster increased product utilization among appropriate patient populations.
- Effective territory management is crucial; the RSM will identify and engage a sufficient number of healthcare provider targets with the necessary frequency to ensure optimal product usage. Continuous development and maintenance of healthcare provider target lists will be essential, informed by the latest data and insights.
- The RSM will leverage all available resources and initiatives, including promotional programs and product samples, to enhance business outcomes. Preparedness to discuss all territory-related matters with the District Business Leader (DBL) is expected.
- Business planning as directed by the DBL will be a key responsibility, alongside timely and accurate completion of all administrative tasks.
- Fiscal responsibility for operational expenses, including travel and office supplies, will be a critical aspect of the role.
- Collaboration with colleagues in related positions, such as other representatives, DBL, Regional Managers, Marketing, and Key Accounts, will be essential for success.
- Adherence to all Alkermes policies and regulations regarding promotional compliance and sample accountability is mandatory.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of successful experience in pharmaceutical or biotech sales is essential.
- Residence within the designated territory is required.
- A valid driver’s license in good standing is necessary.
- Ability to demonstrate or obtain necessary credentials for access to healthcare facilities is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of successful experience in pharmaceutical or biotech sales is preferred.
- Experience in specialty sales is advantageous.
- Demonstrated superior organizational and administrative capabilities are preferred.
- Proven past sales performance and success are highly regarded.
- Strong analytical, strategic, and influencing skills are beneficial.
- Some overnight travel may be necessary.
