This initiative encompasses two significant, nationally representative cohort studies: High School & Beyond (HSB) and The National Longitudinal Study of the High School Class of 1972 (NLS72). These studies serve as invaluable resources for examining the long-term impacts of education on health, cognition, and overall well-being in later life. The EdSHARe team is led by esteemed researchers, including Dr. Chandra Muller, and collaborates with institutions such as the University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin, and Columbia University.

  • Collaborate with project scientists to manage administrative record linkages, prepare data for analysis, and construct various indicators that may influence cognitive functioning and health outcomes.
  • Oversee the development of database structures and ensure proper documentation and programming for data archiving and public access.
  • Contribute to project-related publications and reports that disseminate research findings.
  • Mentor students and early career researchers, facilitating training on data management and analysis.
  • Work with project personnel and affiliated organizations to maintain data security and enhance user experience.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Education, Epidemiology, Neuropsychology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated research accomplishments and professional experience comparable to that of an established assistant professor or a new associate professor.
  • Proven track record as an independent researcher.
  • Expertise in quantitative research utilizing large population-representative datasets, including various modeling strategies.
  • Experience in data management and handling secure data.
  • Proficiency in Stata.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in empirical quantitative research using longitudinal datasets.
  • Background in academic or similar research environments.
  • Experience in interdisciplinary, collaborative research projects.
  • Familiarity with R and Linux systems.
