About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Clinical Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. As a Clinical Laboratory Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture and capillary phlebotomy, to collect blood samples from patients.
  • Process laboratory specimens, including labeling, verifying patient identity, and transporting specimens to the laboratory.
  • Assist with data entry and specimen processing, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare staff, adhering to CHOP's ICARE values and Service Standards.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff, medical staff, and other departments to ensure seamless communication and efficient workflow.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and safety.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of processes and procedures to enhance laboratory services.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Technical Diploma in Phlebotomy or related field preferred.
  • Scientific laboratory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic biology, chemistry, and English language required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
