_Key Responsibilities:_

As a Clinical Laboratory Specialist, you will:
  • Conduct both basic and advanced tests on donors and patients, interpreting results to ensure compatibility.
  • Resolve compatibility issues and provide complex consultation services to hospitals and transfusion centers.
  • Perform automated and manual testing procedures on blood samples.
  • Oversee the receipt, coordination, shipment, and transport of blood samples, documenting any supply or equipment issues.
  • Manage reagent inventory, including ordering, receiving, and inspection.
  • Identify and resolve testing irregularities, assisting colleagues in problem resolution.
  • Consult with staff at other medical facilities to address complex serologic issues.
  • Maintain and repair laboratory equipment and software, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Conduct staff orientation and competency assessments as needed.

_Work Schedule:_
Baylor Shift: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 12-hour shifts (noon to midnight), with compensation for 40 hours of work. One holiday per calendar year is required, and there are no on-call duties.

_Compensation:_
Hourly rate: $30-35
Sign-On Bonus: $7,000.00

_Qualifications:_
  • MLS(ASCP) or BB(ASCP) certification, or equivalent, with a bachelor's degree in biological science or chemistry and three years of blood banking experience, or MLT (ASCP) certification with five years of laboratory experience.
  • MLS (ASCP) and/or BB (ASCP) or equivalent preferred.
  • State license may be required where applicable.

_Preferred Skills:_
  • SBB (ASCP) certification and/or experience in Immunohematology Reference Laboratory.
