Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting essential donor and patient testing in accordance with established protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Interpreting test results to ensure donor-recipient compatibility.
  • Addressing compatibility issues and providing expert consultation to healthcare facilities.
  • Performing both automated and manual testing procedures on blood samples.

Additional Duties:

  • Overseeing the management of blood sample logistics, including receipt, coordination, and transport.
  • Maintaining reagent inventory through effective ordering and inspection processes.
  • Identifying and resolving testing discrepancies while assisting colleagues in troubleshooting.
  • Collaborating with other medical institutions to address complex serological challenges.
  • Ensuring the upkeep and validation of laboratory equipment and software.
  • Documenting accurate records and participating in staff training and competency evaluations.

Work Schedule: Baylor Shift - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 12-hour shifts (noon to midnight), with compensation for 40 hours of work.

Compensation: $30-35 per hour with a sign-on bonus of $7,000.

Qualifications:

  • MLS(ASCP) or BB(ASCP) certification, or equivalent, along with a bachelor's degree in biological science or chemistry, plus three years of blood banking experience; or MLT(ASCP) certification with five years of laboratory experience.
  • State licensure may be required where applicable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in SBB(ASCP) and/or Immunohematology Reference Laboratory.
