Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Assistant/Patient Representative to join our team at Cambridge Health Alliance. As a Medical Assistant/Patient Representative, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our ambulatory care team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Answering the telephone professionally and taking accurate detailed electronic messages.
    • Scheduling patient appointments electronically, according to scheduling guidelines.
    • Executing daily insurance verifications by means of the Passport system.
    • Completing patient appointment registrations efficiently with the result of successful claim submissions.
    • Maintaining detailed accurate records of the department's daily co-payments collected and deposited.
    • Performing administrative duties necessary to ensure appropriate billing and reimbursement for services provided.
    • Scanning documents into appropriate medical records.
    • Troubleshooting office equipment failures.
  • Patient Care:
    • Actively and efficiently managing the flow of patients through the clinic.
    • Pre-visit chart medical record preparation and information gathering to optimize the visit.
    • Assisting providers with medical histories.
    • Appropriate documentation in the electronic health record.
    • Checking routine vital signs and point of care testing (based on patient's reason for visit, age and diagnosis).
    • Performing screening questionnaires and pain score, as needed.
    • Managing room cleaning, stocking, set-up, and turnover.
    • Participating in process improvement initiatives.
    • Participating in staff meetings, MA meetings, and continuing education sessions.
    • Assisting co-workers in their duties within the limitations of training and scope of practice.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program.
  • Ability to write and verbally communicate in English.
  • Knowledge of a second language preferred.
  • Current experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Experience with administrative duties in a clinical setting preferred.
