Position Purpose:
The primary objective of this role is to deliver personalized academic guidance to students enrolled in the Bridging Disciplines Programs (BDP) and to offer program-related assistance as a member of the BDP team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide counsel to undergraduates on formulating an interdisciplinary academic plan and assist in aligning BDP requirements with their degree objectives.
- Guide prospective students through the application process, offering feedback on their essays and helping them articulate their educational and career aspirations.
- Act as the BDP Connecting Experiences coordinator, establishing connections with internship sites, nurturing relationships, and maintaining a resource hub for internship and research opportunities.
- Contribute actively to the BDP team, participating in program development, outreach initiatives, and various events.
- Organize workshops and panels aimed at assisting students in securing and presenting their research and internship experiences.
- Execute assigned program-related tasks, which may include event coordination and outreach efforts.
- Facilitate career-oriented events for BDP students in collaboration with career services.
- Engage as a member of the Undergraduate College team, contributing to program planning and attending relevant events and meetings.
Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with four years of experience in academic counseling or a Master’s degree with two years of relevant experience. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong writing and communication skills, and the ability to effectively engage with diverse audiences. Proven organizational skills and experience managing multiple projects under tight deadlines are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
More than four years of experience in academic counseling or related fields, familiarity with interdisciplinary academic programs, and a demonstrated commitment to supporting students in achieving their educational and career goals. Experience in leading professional development workshops and organizing events is also preferred.
Salary Range:
$46,000+ based on qualifications.
Working Conditions:
