Position Overview:

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an Academic Program Advisor to support students in navigating the Bridging Disciplines Programs (BDPs). This role is pivotal in guiding undergraduates through their academic journey, ensuring they successfully integrate interdisciplinary studies into their degree plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalized academic guidance to students enrolled in the BDPs, assisting them in formulating a comprehensive interdisciplinary study plan.
  • Facilitate workshops and events aimed at enhancing students' understanding of research and internship opportunities.
  • Act as a liaison between students and internship sites, fostering relationships that enhance experiential learning.
  • Contribute to program development and outreach initiatives, collaborating with faculty and staff to enhance the BDP experience.
  • Assist prospective students with application processes, offering constructive feedback on essays and helping them articulate their educational and career aspirations.
  • Engage actively in team meetings and contribute to the overall success of the Undergraduate College.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, along with four years of experience in academic counseling, or a Master's degree with two years of related experience. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities are essential. Experience in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines is highly valued.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience exceeding four years in academic advising or related fields, particularly within interdisciplinary programs, is preferred. Familiarity with career development initiatives and event coordination will be advantageous.

Compensation:

The salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience.
