Brooklyn Community Services (BCS) is dedicated to empowering individuals to navigate challenges towards self-sufficiency. Established in 1866, our mission is rooted in community support, addressing systemic poverty through educational success, youth leadership, and stability for families and individuals with disabilities. We advocate for social justice and work collectively to dismantle barriers that perpetuate inequality, serving over 20,000 individuals through a wide array of programs.

In light of the ongoing impacts of social isolation and educational disruption, particularly since March 2020, our organization recognizes the urgent need for specialized mental health services for children and youth. The role of the Social Work Supervisor is critical in providing support and resources to address the mental health challenges faced by our communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes positive behavior and social interactions among children.
  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality program services, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.
  • Conduct regular on-site visits to provide clinical oversight and support to program staff.
  • Review and enhance health and safety protocols, crisis intervention strategies, and clinical support systems.
  • Collaborate with educational administrators to implement effective interventions for students requiring social and emotional support.
  • Design and implement a professional development plan focused on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) for staff.
  • Provide targeted training for staff on trauma-informed care and classroom management techniques.
  • Support program directors in maintaining effective classroom management systems.
  • Supervise and mentor MSW interns, ensuring adherence to clinical standards.
  • Facilitate individual and group coaching sessions to address behavioral challenges impacting student performance.
  • Conduct safety assessments and develop intervention plans for students in need.
  • Engage in family outreach and conduct meetings with parents or guardians as necessary.
  • Participate in IEP and family team conferences to support student needs.
  • Collaborate with educational staff to address service coordination and crisis intervention challenges.
  • Perform compliance audits to ensure adherence to organizational standards.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) required; LMSW/SIFI preferred.
  • Full-time in-person work is mandatory.
  • Experience in supervisory and managerial roles is essential.
  • Familiarity with clinical frameworks such as SEL and trauma-informed care is required.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications is expected.
  • Ability to pass all required background checks.

BCS is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We provide auxiliary aids and services upon request to individuals with disabilities.
