Your Responsibilities:
The Lead Packaging Solutions Engineer will collaborate with New Product Development (NPD) teams to offer expertise in "Design for Distribution," ensuring that our packaging solutions effectively meet customer requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing insights on case and inner pack quantities that facilitate customer ordering.
  • Advising on secondary and tertiary packaging choices that influence distribution handling, transportation expenses, and customer receiving and storage.
  • Delivering logistics insights and cost optimization strategies based on a comprehensive landed cost model and an end-to-end supply chain perspective for both new and existing products.
  • Coordinating with Operations leadership and distribution partners to evaluate, troubleshoot, and enhance logistics efficiency.


Your Impact:
In this role, you will:

  • Assess the distribution readiness of new product introductions in collaboration with business units and NPD teams.
  • Contribute to the NPD design process with a focus on optimizing costs and service through an end-to-end supply chain approach.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance product flow through the supply chain to our customers.
  • Recognize product attributes or ordering plans that may affect costs, service levels, and efficient material flow.
  • Develop strategies to improve the flow of goods and address challenges related to new product development or existing product lines.
  • Work cross-functionally with Operations, finance, and commercial teams to streamline NPD launches and manage ongoing costs.
  • Review the current product portfolio for opportunities to optimize costs and customer service.
  • Quickly evaluate product attributes and ordering patterns that influence cost and service.
  • Propose logistics alternatives to overcome market entry challenges.


Your Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • A degree in Logistics or Engineering is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Distribution and Transportation.
  • A solid understanding of the product portfolio.
  • Familiarity with the NPD process and go-to-market strategies.
  • Knowledge of material flow and product characteristics affecting transportation and handling costs.
  • An understanding of customer needs regarding service and logistics.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop landed cost or financial models.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and hazardous goods storage and transportation requirements.


Preferred Skills:
Additional qualifications that would be advantageous include:

  • Experience in packaging.
  • Knowledge of transportation processes.
  • The ability to manage multiple high-level projects simultaneously.


Working Conditions:
This position may require light travel (5-10%) and involves light lifting, bending, and stooping.
