Your Responsibilities:

The Lead Packaging Solutions Engineer will collaborate with New Product Development (NPD) teams to offer insights on "Design for Distribution" to effectively cater to our clients' requirements. This includes evaluating case and inner pack quantities that align with customer ordering preferences. You will also provide guidance on secondary and tertiary packaging choices that influence distribution handling, transportation expenses, and customer receiving and storage.

Additionally, you will deliver logistics insights and cost optimization strategies by considering a comprehensive landed cost model and an end-to-end supply chain perspective for both new products and our existing portfolio. Coordination with Operations leadership and distribution partners will be essential to assess, troubleshoot, and enhance logistics efficiency.

Your Key Duties Include:

  • Collaborating with business units and NPD teams to evaluate the distribution readiness of new product launches.
  • Contributing to the NPD design process with a focus on end-to-end supply chain cost and service optimization.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance product flow through the supply chain and to our customers.
  • Recognizing product attributes or ordering strategies that may affect costs, service levels, and efficient material flow.
  • Developing strategies for efficient goods flow and addressing challenges related to NPD or existing product lines.
  • Working cross-functionally with Operations, business units, finance, and commercial teams to improve NPD launches and manage ongoing costs.
  • Reviewing the current product portfolio for cost and customer service enhancements.
  • Quickly assessing product attributes and ordering patterns that impact costs and service levels.
  • Offering logistics alternatives to address product market entry challenges.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A degree in Logistics or Engineering is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Distribution and Transportation.
  • Familiarity with the product portfolio.
  • Understanding of the NPD process and market entry strategies.
  • Knowledge of material flow and product characteristics that affect transportation and handling costs.
  • Awareness of customer service and logistics requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop landed cost or financial models.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and hazardous goods storage and transportation standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in packaging is advantageous.
  • Understanding of transportation processes.
  • Capability to manage multiple high-level projects concurrently.

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional travel (5-10%).
