Key Responsibilities:As a Lead Manufacturing Engineer focused on New Product Development (NPD), you will be an integral part of the Manufacturing Engineering NPD team, overseeing operational readiness throughout the new product development lifecycle. Your role will involve active engagement in NPD teams from initial project planning to product launch.
You will significantly influence product designs to enhance manufacturing assembly, reduce costs, and ensure quality standards are met.
In addition to supporting NPD initiatives, you may also contribute to ongoing engineering projects.This position will lead the establishment of efficient manufacturing processes and the implementation of lean manufacturing lines in partnership with site manufacturing engineers.
Responsibilities Include:- Supervise processes from planning through product launch as a core member of NPD teams.
- Serve as a vital communication link between R&D and manufacturing sites, leading project planning to define operational requirements such as capacity, processes, space, and equipment.
- Drive the development of manufacturing lines utilizing lean principles (e.g., single-piece flow, standard work, kanban, playbook, etc.).
- Develop advanced manufacturing systems and processes to ensure capability, repeatability, and reproducibility in launched products.
- Lead and coordinate PFMEAs to identify and mitigate process risks.
- Implement process controls and utilize Poke Yoke techniques to guarantee product quality and efficiency.
With minimal supervision, you will manage a range of engineering tasks, delivering technical solutions to projects. The role requires strong interpretative skills, project planning capabilities, and sound judgment. Some travel may be required, up to 10-20%.Qualifications:
- A degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering is required.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering is essential, preferably in narrow web converting such as slitting, winding, flexo printing, or inkjet printing.
- Experience in product development from design or manufacturing engineering perspectives.- Proficiency in quality systems and the ability to interpret technical engineering drawings and Bills of Materials.
- Capability to work independently, identify relevant tasks, and execute responsibilities effectively.
- Experience in analyzing process capability and developing/implementing product development and process improvement plans.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a team-oriented approach.- Excellent project management skills, including planning, organizing, fact gathering, scheduling, and decision-making.
- Familiarity with developing PFMEAs and control plans to manage production risks.- Understanding of manufacturing techniques such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
