City of The Dalles
This is a full-time, union-eligible role that requires a pre-employment background check. Under the supervision of the Library Director, the incumbent will undertake a range of library responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will spearhead the creation and execution of services tailored for young patrons, serve as a mentor, and connect youth with resources and opportunities that align with their interests. This role involves responding to the needs of diverse and evolving communities and empowering young individuals to shape their own futures.
The candidate will stay informed about relevant programs and services, as well as cataloging practices that enhance the library staff's ability to deliver quality information to patrons efficiently.
Front-desk circulation responsibilities are essential, requiring exceptional customer service while engaging with the public.This full-time position necessitates physical stamina for standing and the flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The role demands the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously while possessing knowledge of library operations. A typical pathway to acquiring this knowledge includes the following qualifications.
Education/Training:
A bachelor's degree is preferred.
However, any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED, along with experience in a library setting, will be considered.
Bilingual skills, particularly in English and Spanish, are advantageous.Experience/Training:
A minimum of two years of experience working with youth in a comparable position is required.
License or Certificates:
A valid driver's license is necessary.
Compensation:
The current wage range for this position is between $26.18 and $31.26 per hour.
