Position Overview

We are looking for a committed Environmental Services Team Leader to join our organization at Adventist Health. The Environmental Services Team Leader will manage and coordinate the efforts of the cleaning staff to ensure a hygienic, secure, and inviting atmosphere throughout the facility. This position plays a vital role in maintaining our cleanliness standards and infection prevention protocols, directly impacting the comfort and health of our patients and staff.

Adventist Health Columbia Gorge has been a cornerstone of the Columbia River Gorge community, providing a range of healthcare services since its inception. Our facility includes a 49-bed hospital, numerous medical offices, home health services, a birthing center, and an extensive array of offerings across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct daily and project-based environmental services and sanitation tasks. Ensure thorough cleaning in all hospital areas. Maintain necessary maintenance records. Actively engage in the Quality Assurance program. Assign tasks to staff for daily environmental services and sanitation duties. Assist management in upholding high cleanliness standards through regular inspections of equipment and adherence to protocols. Maintain records and compile reports on activities and performance metrics. Train, orient, and supervise departmental personnel. Oversee and guide the activities of various staff levels using professional discretion and independent judgment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience: Required
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Five years of experience in environmental services: Preferred
  • One year of experience in environmental services: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Driver's License: Required
  • Auto Insurance: Required
Essential Duties:
  • Coordinate, assign, and execute specific housekeeping tasks and projects, including terminal and concurrent unit cleaning and preparing patient rooms for occupancy, ceiling and wall washing, window cleaning, carpet shampooing, and floor maintenance.
  • Ensure safe handling, storage, and processing of soiled and clean linen. Maintain adequate supplies for hospital operations and manage departmental inventory within budget constraints.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to verify that standards are met and necessary tasks are completed.
  • Assist with scheduling and staffing to guarantee sufficient coverage and service across all facility areas. Provide flexible scheduling to adapt to changes in patient census and workload.
  • Exercise independent judgment in supervising and directing assigned staff. Delegate and assign work to optimize personnel skills and meet operational needs. Recruit and orient new team members. Ensure all staff receive adequate training to perform their duties effectively. Foster an engaging workplace and encourage innovative approaches for continuous improvement. Drive a performance culture through evaluations and coaching. Administer disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
