Position Summary:

Acara Solutions, a prominent staffing firm in the aerospace sector, is assisting a leading aerospace manufacturing client in identifying a Senior Test Engineer to become a valued member of their team as a salaried direct employee.

The compensation range for this role is between $139K and $161K. This position requires full onsite presence at the client's facility.

The Senior Test Engineer is a key contributor who operates with a high degree of independence, employing creativity, resourcefulness, and established methodologies to execute engineering responsibilities in the research, planning, design, and development of products intended for the Aerospace or Electronics sectors.

This role focuses on intricate technical issues, collaborating within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, and managing multiple independent assignments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating effectively with various functional teams to meet product performance and cost objectives.
  • Incorporating quality and manufacturability into product designs.
  • Understanding and adhering to company and regulatory standards to ensure a safe operational environment.
  • Engaging in continuous process improvement initiatives, including Kaizen and 5S practices, to maintain an organized and efficient workspace.
  • Demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills in English for technical documentation, presentations, and analyses.

Key Duties:

  • Decomposing and defining product and process requirements to facilitate product development, sustaining, and R&D efforts.
  • Planning, estimating, prioritizing, and managing work activities to align with project timelines and budgets.
  • Producing detailed and accurate design and development outputs that comply with customer specifications and company standards for schedule, cost, manufacturability, quality, and reliability.
  • Utilizing effective problem-solving methodologies, documentation, tools, and analyses to swiftly identify root causes and corrective actions for technical challenges.
  • Generating and reviewing product development documentation, including proposals, technical reports, and procedures, to meet customer and program requirements.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and providing support for IPT activities in collaboration with other technical, operational, quality, and business teams.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Designing test equipment hardware and software, selecting and procuring necessary equipment to achieve desired results and accuracy, and integrating or constructing complex automated test systems.
  • Developing, coding, and debugging computer/data acquisition systems essential for automated testing using platforms such as National Instruments' LabVIEW and TestStand.
  • Creating comprehensive design packages that include written descriptions, detailed schematics, component lists, and images to facilitate accurate reconstruction of test equipment and systems.
  • Ensuring that generated test data is organized, accurate, and properly archived.
  • Performing calculations to establish specifications for test equipment, design margins, setups, and limits.
  • Supporting production in the design of new test equipment and enhancements to existing systems.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in test engineering, encompassing analog and digital circuit design, microprocessor/microcontroller design, automated test system design, and programming of data acquisition systems.
  • At least 3 years of experience in product requirements development and test procedure formulation.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in configuration management within a regulated environment.
  • Experience with system-design platforms such as LabVIEW and TestStand.
  • Familiarity with SPICE, CAD, schematic design, and PWB layout.
  • Experience with communication interfaces like ARINC429, CAN, RS232, and I2C.

This position is within an aerospace/defense ITAR facility, requiring U.S. citizenship or Green Card status. A small amount of travel may be necessary (less than 10%).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD.
  • Experience in a regulated industry such as aerospace, military, or medical devices.
  • LabVIEW certification.
  • Background in aerospace testing.
