The Lead Quality Assurance Engineer is a pivotal contributor who operates with a high degree of autonomy, employing creativity, resourcefulness, and established protocols to execute engineering responsibilities in the research, planning, design, and development of products tailored for the Aerospace or Electronics sectors. This role focuses on intricate technical issues, collaborates within a cohesive Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, and manages multiple independent assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively with various functional teams to meet product performance and cost objectives. Ensure quality and manufacturability are integral to the design process. Adhere to company and regulatory standards to maintain a safe operational environment.
  • Engage in continuous process enhancement initiatives, including Kaizen and 5S methodologies, to foster an organized and efficient workspace and promote personal growth.
  • Exhibit proficiency in both verbal and written English for technical documentation, presentations, analyses, and other communications at all organizational levels.
  • Comprehend, dissect, and articulate product and process requirements to facilitate product development, maintenance, and research & development efforts.
  • Plan, estimate, prioritize, and oversee work activities to ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Leverage experience and judgment to set and achieve objectives. Deliver comprehensive and precise design and development outputs that fulfill all customer specifications and company standards for schedule, cost, manufacturability, quality, and reliability.
  • Employ effective problem-solving techniques, documentation, tools, and analyses to swiftly identify root causes and corrective measures for technical challenges in support of product development and maintenance tasks.
  • Generate and review product development documentation, including proposals, technical reports, procedures, and correspondence, to meet customer and program requirements.
  • Work autonomously and collaboratively within a team environment that encompasses various engineering, operations, quality, and business disciplines.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers and other team members in areas of expertise.
  • Support IPT activities in partnership with other technical, operations, quality, and business teams.
  • Design test equipment hardware and software, select and procure necessary equipment to achieve desired results and accuracy, and integrate or construct automated test systems of significant complexity. Develop, code, and troubleshoot computer/data acquisition systems essential for automated testing using platforms such as National Instruments' LabVIEW, TestStand, or similar software.
  • Provide a comprehensive design package that includes written descriptions, detailed wiring diagrams, images, component lists, etc., to ensure accurate reconstruction of test equipment and systems. Ensure that generated test data is organized, precise, and properly archived.
  • Create test procedures based on specifications. Conduct calculations to determine test equipment specifications, design margins, test setups, and limits.
  • Assist Production in the design of new test equipment and the enhancement of existing test systems.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of test equipment documentation, procedures, and designs, and provide testability assessments for product designs.

Required Skills / Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering.

A minimum of 8 years of experience in test engineering, encompassing analog and digital circuit hardware design, microprocessor/microcontroller design, automated test system design, and programming of data acquisition systems, along with software development and verification.

At least 3 years of experience in product requirements development, requirements analysis/verification, and test procedure development.

A minimum of 1 year of experience in configuration management within a regulated environment.

At least 3 years of experience with system-design platforms (e.g., LabVIEW, TestStand).

A minimum of 1 year of experience with SPICE, CAD, schematic design, and PWB layout.

At least 1 year of experience with communication interfaces (e.g., ARINC429, CAN, RS232, I2C).

This position is within an aerospace/defense ITAR facility, requiring U.S. Persons (Green Card acceptable).

Some travel may be required (less than 10%).

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's or PhD degree.

Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, military, medical device).

LabVIEW certification.

Interest in utilizing LabVIEW within the ALOHA Application Framework.

Background in aerospace testing.
