Position Summary:
Acara Solutions, a prominent staffing firm in the aerospace sector, is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to become a valued member of our client's organization as a salaried direct employee.
The compensation range for this role is between $139K and $161K. This position requires full onsite presence at the client's facility in Bothell, WA.The Senior Test Engineer plays a crucial role, operating with a high degree of independence while employing creativity, resourcefulness, and established protocols to execute engineering responsibilities related to the research, planning, design, and development of products intended for the Aerospace or Electronics sectors.
This role focuses on intricate technical issues, collaborating within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, and managing multiple independent assignments. The engineer will work effectively across various functional groups to meet product performance and cost objectives, ensuring quality and manufacturability are integral to the design process.
Responsibilities include understanding and adhering to company and regulatory standards to maintain a safe operational environment, as well as supporting ongoing process enhancement initiatives such as Kaizen and 5S practices to foster an organized and efficient workspace.
Proficiency in verbal and written English is essential for creating technical reports, presentations, analyses, and other communications at appropriate organizational levels.
The Senior Test Engineer will decompose and define product and process requirements to facilitate product development, sustaining efforts, and R&D activities. Planning, estimating, prioritizing, and managing work tasks to align with project timelines and budgets is also critical.
Utilizing experience and judgment, the engineer will produce comprehensive and precise design and development outputs that fulfill all customer specifications and organizational requirements regarding schedule, cost, manufacturability, quality, and reliability.
Effective problem-solving skills are necessary to swiftly identify root causes and corrective actions for technical challenges encountered during product development and sustaining assignments. The engineer will generate and review essential product development documentation, including proposals, technical reports, and procedures, to meet customer and program needs.
Self-motivation and the ability to communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment are vital. The Senior Test Engineer will also mentor junior engineers and support IPT activities in collaboration with other technical, operational, quality, and business teams.
Key responsibilities include designing test equipment hardware and software, selecting and procuring necessary equipment to achieve desired outcomes, and integrating or constructing highly complex automated test systems. The engineer will design, code, and debug computer/data acquisition systems for automated testing using National Instruments' LabVIEW, TestStand, or similar software.
Providing a comprehensive design package, including detailed descriptions, wiring diagrams, schematics, and component lists, is essential for accurate reconstruction of test equipment and systems. The engineer will ensure that generated test data is organized, accurate, and properly archived, as well as develop test procedures based on specifications.
Performing calculations to establish test equipment specifications, design margins, test setups, and limits is also required. Additionally, the engineer will support production by designing new test equipment and enhancing existing systems.

Required Skills / Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in engineering is required, along with a minimum of 8 years of experience in test engineering, which includes analog and digital circuit hardware design, microprocessor/microcontroller design, automated test system design, and programming of data acquisition systems and software development.
Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in product requirements development, requirements analysis/verification, and test procedure development, as well as a minimum of 1 year of experience in configuration management within a regulated environment. Additionally, 3 years of experience with system-design platforms (e.g., LabView, TestStand) is required.Experience with SPICE, CAD, schematic design, and PWB layout for at least 1 year is necessary, along with 1 year of experience with communication interfaces (e.g., ARINC429, CAN, RS232, I2C...). This position is within an aerospace/defense ITAR facility, requiring U.S. citizenship or Green Card status.
Preferred qualifications include a Master's or PhD, experience in a regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, military, medical device), LabView certification, and a background in aerospace testing history.
