Job Overview

Position: Educational Support Specialist

Location: Menlo Park, CA

Summary: Soliant is looking for a committed and enthusiastic Educational Support Specialist to become part of our team. The ideal candidate will collaborate with educators and staff to address the educational and developmental requirements of students, fostering a supportive and effective learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist educators in implementing instructional activities and lesson plans.
  • Provide individualized or small group assistance to students with special needs or learning challenges.
  • Supervise and support students in various educational environments, including classrooms and recreational areas.
  • Contribute to classroom management and organization.
  • Help prepare instructional materials and resources.
  • Encourage students in developing social skills and positive behaviors.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all learners.
  • Engage in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervising educator or school administration.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Associate's degree or higher in education or a related discipline.
  • Experience in an educational setting is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children.

Required Certifications:

  • California Paraprofessional Certification: Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
    • Possess an associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution.
    • Complete a minimum of 48 college semester units.
    • Pass the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) or the ParaPro Assessment.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification: Preferred but can be obtained post-hire.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to kneel, bend, and reach as necessary to assist students.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time role during the academic year.
  • Hours may vary based on educational schedules and requirements.
  • Primarily work in a school environment, with occasional outdoor supervision.
