Job Description / Essential Elements:

Utilizing both Spanish and English fluently, support educators in presenting instructional materials; provide tutoring to individuals or small groups; reinforce or follow up on lessons by reading or narrating stories, offering specialized instructional assistance, practicing and listening to lessons, leading discussions, and engaging in various learning activities. Coordinate and assist students in learning centers with the use of dictionaries, research materials, work skills, and reading, employing both languages. Aid in identifying students' learning needs and evaluating instructional effectiveness and student progress. Collaborate with teachers in preparing lesson plans or developing individualized plans based on students' learning requirements. Provide emotional support, positive reinforcement, and general guidance. Assist in creating and preparing educational aids; maintain inventories of materials and equipment utilized in learning activities. Perform clerical tasks such as scoring and recording assessments, updating student records, and maintaining attendance and grade records. Operate office equipment for preparing instructional materials, bulletins, or other resources; prepare labels, charts, bulletin boards, and teaching displays as directed; organize classrooms and instructional areas. May accompany students on educational trips; participate in training sessions and school events; assist teachers in maintaining discipline and monitoring various areas. Provide translation and interpretation services in Spanish across different contexts; uphold the confidentiality of student records and school reports; may assist with parent conferences and make home calls under teacher direction; may administer first aid in the absence of the teacher or school nurse.

Requirements / Qualifications

The Baldwin Park Unified School District is seeking Bilingual Educational Support Specialists. Under general supervision, assist, tutor, and educate preschool and school-age students individually or in groups in a classroom or similar setting, adhering to a prescribed curriculum; oversee and supervise students; perform clerical and para-professional tasks both inside and outside the classroom; and undertake related responsibilities as needed. * Any combination equivalent to high school graduation
* Valid California Driver's License and Insurance
