Compensation Range: $99,000 - $154,000

Position Summary

Menlo Park Presbyterian Church is a vibrant multisite congregation located in the San Francisco Bay area. Our IT Department is dedicated to supporting central operations and multiple campuses across the region. The Director of Information Technology plays a pivotal role in providing strategic leadership and managing daily IT operations. In a time when digital engagement is increasingly vital, the Director must foster collaboration and navigate a matrixed organizational structure effectively.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in IT management, exhibit strong project management capabilities, and demonstrate a commitment to our mission of guiding individuals in their spiritual journeys. A servant leadership approach and a proactive mindset are essential, as this role involves delivering exceptional support to all stakeholders, allowing them to concentrate on their ministries. The Director will oversee relationships with outsourced IT vendors and prioritize the immediate technological needs of staff and ministries.

Collaboration with the Director of Facilities and Director of Finance on risk management and security matters is also a key responsibility. Working in a church environment presents unique challenges, and the successful candidate will feel called to serve in ministry, utilizing their skills and experience to further the mission of the church.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate effectively with the Operations Team and various stakeholders.
  2. Define and advocate for the IT vision, ensuring alignment with the church's ministries.
  3. Assess organizational needs and propose technical solutions that support growth and ministry effectiveness.
  4. Streamline processes for enhanced efficiency and identify resource gaps.
  5. Lead projects to successful completion while providing consistent IT services.
  6. Manage and mentor IT staff, establishing clear goals and fostering professional development.
  7. Oversee outsourced IT services, ensuring high-quality customer service.
  8. Administer IT contracts and service agreements.
  9. Ensure compliance with audit requirements and manage risk effectively.
  10. Deliver exceptional customer service to ministry partners and guests.
  11. Work closely with Facilities and Finance Directors on security and risk management.
  12. Collaborate with HR & Finance to implement IT best practices in software applications.
  13. Participate in ministerial training and administer sacraments if licensed.
  14. Manage the IT budget with a focus on stewardship.
  15. Provide on-call support as necessary.
  16. Prioritize and delegate tasks across multiple projects.
  17. Stay informed about current technology trends and drive continuous improvement.
  18. Foster positive working relationships and embody the church's values of teamwork.
  19. Recruit and develop high-capacity volunteers for ministry support.
  20. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by senior leadership.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of 10 years of relevant IT operational experience.
  3. Experience with high-speed fiber networks and telecommunications.
  4. Proficiency in website security, launch, maintenance, and content delivery.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  1. Master's degree is preferred.
  2. Experience in team management and leadership.
  3. Familiarity with office applications and collaboration tools.
  4. Experience in security and compliance is preferred.
  5. PMP or ITIL certification is a plus.
  6. Experience in a matrix organization and church environment is advantageous.
  7. Knowledge of Menlo Church and its ministries is beneficial.
  8. Contract negotiation experience is a plus.

  3. Standard business hours apply, with flexibility for evenings or weekends as needed.
  4. Proximity to all church locations is necessary for regular visits and emergency response.
