Position Summary

The Project Engineer (PE) plays a crucial role in overseeing all technical and engineering aspects of assigned projects. The successful candidate will lead a diverse engineering team and collaborate closely with Program Managers, various departments, clients, and vendors to ensure project objectives are met effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and maintain a high-performing engineering team with clear objectives and responsibilities.
  2. Contribute technical expertise to new business proposals, including design preparation and cost estimation.
  3. Coordinate engineering activities for training device programs, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
  4. Review and make decisions on technical specifications, designs, and project milestones.
  5. Ensure timely achievement of project goals while adhering to safety and compliance standards.
  6. Participate in technical and program reviews as a presenter or reviewer.
  7. Oversee the technical design and integration of hardware and software components.
  8. Identify and address technical challenges, recommending resource reallocations or specification adjustments as needed.
  9. Communicate effectively with the project team regarding scheduling and resource constraints.
  10. Implement solutions for hardware/software integration challenges.
  11. Provide engineering support during the manufacturing phase to ensure project timelines are met.
  12. Ensure that the final product meets all contractual and functional requirements.
  13. Act as the primary technical representative during customer acceptance processes, which may involve travel.
  14. Offer guidance and mentorship to team members involved in assigned projects.
  15. Attend relevant stakeholder meetings and events as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Experience Requirements

  1. Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience, including at least 5 years in developing complex hardware/software systems.
  2. At least 3 years of direct experience as a Project Engineer in the flight simulation sector is preferred.
  3. Proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams.
  4. Experience in collaborating with clients and product managers to define technical requirements, particularly for government projects.
  5. Strong background in software development is preferred.
  6. Familiarity with simulator design, development, integration, and testing is advantageous.
  7. Knowledge of flight simulation industry standards and regulatory requirements is preferred.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.

Employment Requirements

  1. Must be a United States Citizen due to contractual obligations.
  2. Must pass an initial background check and obtain a Department of Defense security clearance.
  3. Travel may be required for on-site integration and testing.
  4. Must comply with drug-free workplace policies.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily office-based, characterized by a collaborative atmosphere with moderate noise levels. The role requires teamwork and effective communication with colleagues and clients.
