Position Overview:

The Sales Support Associate plays a crucial role in delivering outstanding customer service to our valued clients by actively listening to their needs, providing accurate information, and making informed product suggestions.


Key Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement:
Welcome and acknowledge every customer entering the sales area with a friendly demeanor. Engage them with open-ended inquiries such as, "How can I assist you today?" or "What are you looking for?" to ensure a positive shopping experience.

Guide customers to the right products based on their specific requirements. Enhance customer confidence by sharing product knowledge and offering technical support related to the selection, usage, and installation of our merchandise.

Handle sales transactions efficiently, including order processing, special requests, and pricing inquiries. Respond to customer phone calls courteously, providing the necessary information.

Organize merchandise on shelves or displays in accordance with company guidelines. Recommend new products to management based on customer feedback.

Accurately write sales orders and special requests using our point-of-sale systems to ensure seamless processing by suppliers. Participate in inventory checks as scheduled by management and restock shelves as needed.

Maintain a tidy and organized sales area to foster a positive shopping environment. Assist customers with loading their purchases when required.

Utilize company resources to report discrepancies in pricing or product descriptions.


Safety and Security:

Possess a solid understanding of company policies regarding safety and security. Stay alert to potential shoplifting activities and report any suspicious behavior to management.

Adhere to safety protocols and participate in regular safety training sessions.


Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in all responsibilities outlined above. Previous experience in retail sales or customer service is preferred. Strong mathematical, reading, writing, and communication skills are essential, along with a friendly attitude.

Problem-solving skills and organizational abilities are necessary, along with the capability to communicate effectively via phone and email. A foundational knowledge of hardware, building materials, or related products is required, with specialized knowledge in specific departments being advantageous.

Candidates must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs, reach for products above six feet, climb ladders, and navigate the store safely.

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

This position is hourly and non-exempt from overtime. While successful associates may explore other opportunities within the organization, this role does not guarantee career advancement.
