Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Transfer Specialist to join our team at Service Corporation International. As a Transfer Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and respectful transportation of deceased individuals to their final resting place.

Key Responsibilities
  • Removal Services
    • Safely transport deceased individuals to funeral homes, cemeteries, and other designated locations in accordance with local and state laws, as well as company policies and procedures.
    • Cooperate with first responders, coroners, hospital staff, and senior living facility staff to ensure a smooth and respectful process.
    • Interact with bereaved family members in a professional and compassionate manner, minimizing conversation and respecting their environment.
    • Enter deceased event information into proprietary software according to company procedures.
    • Transport caskets to airports, care centers, or funeral homes, and assist with moving caskets as needed.
  • Vehicle Maintenance
    • Wash, vacuum, and clean vehicles to ensure they are presentable and in good condition.
    • Fuel vehicles as necessary and follow safety guidelines and expenditure processes.
    • Maintain personal protective and removal supplies in vehicles, including cleaning products.
    • Identify vehicle engine or operating issues to management and drive vehicles for repair or inspection.
  • Minimum Requirements
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Current state-issued driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
    • At least one year of work experience as a courier or driver, with direct customer interaction strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Ability to work a schedule that supports business needs, including weekends and nights.
    • Ability to work on-call weekends, nights, and holidays rotation.
    • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and push/pull up to 200 pounds.
    • Ability to drive in hazardous, heavy traffic, and weather conditions.
    • Basic computer skills required.
    Work Environment
    • Work indoors and outdoors during all seasons and weather conditions.
    • Local and/or multiple location traveling required.
    • Comply with Field dress code policy.
    Work Postures
    • Frequent, continuous periods of time standing, up to 6 hours per day.
    • Climbing stairs to access buildings frequently.
    Physical Demands
    • Physical effort requiring manual dexterity is required, including paperwork, calculators, computers, and phone usage.
    • Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 75 pounds.
    Work Hours
    • Working beyond standard hours as the need arises.
    • Local travel up to 100% using company vehicle.
