Optical Systems Engineer

Mobis North America LLC is in search of an Optical Engineer with a focus on Wave Guide Optics to contribute to the In Vehicle Infotainment Electronics division.
Key Qualifications:
- Candidates must possess experience in the Automotive or Commercial sectors.
Core Responsibilities:
- Interpret customer and internal specifications, transforming them into innovative optical designs.
- Proficient in HUD optical system design and analysis utilizing software such as CodeV, LightTools, SPEOS, or Zemax.
- Conduct evaluations and measurements of HUD optical performance, including distortion, disparity, brightness, uniformity, and projection distance.
- Utilize spectrometers and luminance meters for performance assessment.
- Design optical layouts based on 3D vehicle data.
- Analyze windshield curvature for optimal performance.
- Perform straylight analysis to mitigate glare from both external and internal light sources.
- Conduct tolerance analysis for HUD components and windshields.
- Oversee the design and manufacturing processes for HUD modules and components.
- Engage in field failure analysis and propose solutions for production issues.
- Collaborate with CAD tools (NX, CATIA) for design integration.
- Set up end-of-line processes for HUD manufacturing.
- Collaborate with Tier 2 suppliers to develop cutting-edge technology for AR-HUD systems.
- Work both on-site and at various facilities as required.
Educational Background: A B.S., M.S., or PhD in Optics Engineering or a related field is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years in optical design or the automotive industry, with a specialization in HUD optical design is required.
Previous experience in automotive engineering with a Tier 1 supplier is essential.
Design-level optical engineering experience with major OEMs is highly valued.
Experience in international collaborative projects is a plus.
