Key Responsibilities:
As a pivotal technical leader, you will take full ownership of projects involving the design, development, and adaptation of electronic brake components and systems for both new and existing OEM customer applications.
- Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of electronic brake system technologies, including Vacuumless Boosters and Electro-Mechanical Braking systems.
- Serve as the technical project leader, gathering and comprehending all pertinent technical information, addressing customer technical inquiries, and collaborating with various departments as necessary.
- Establish the system strategy for integrating new and existing electronic brake components into diverse OEM electrical architectures and applications.
- Work closely with project management, global software teams, design, and testing engineers to set development milestones and oversee the integration of system validation to meet those milestones.
- Provide solutions for system-related project challenges, both internally and with customers on specific applications. Lead root cause analysis and support necessary actions to define corrective measures.
- Prepare and present materials in support of new program proposals and throughout project development phases to effectively communicate information.
- Adhere to established procedures and work instructions while contributing to the development and enhancement of these guidelines, ensuring compliance with electronic brake design standards.
- Collaborate in the design and formulation of testing procedures; recommend and implement enhancements to testing equipment, methodologies, and procedures.
- Manage multiple applications concurrently, performing all required functions efficiently.
- Report on project status, outcomes, and results against established targets and metrics to management and stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel locally, domestically, and internationally, up to 20%.
- Participate in globally hosted meetings as required.
- Work from a home office environment.
- Report directly to the Manager of Brake Engineering.
- Proven ability to work effectively within a team.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design for automotive applications.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience related to the design of electronic braking components and systems in the automotive sector.
- Strong grasp of design principles, including electronics, mechanics, mechatronics, physics, kinematics, and materials science.
- Ability to apply intuitive thinking and pursue innovative, creative problem-solving approaches.
- Experience with various problem-solving tools.
- Demonstrated experience using commercial design and analysis tools.
- Experience in reporting to and negotiating with OEM management.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
