The Cloud Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for comprehensive engineering outputs throughout various phases of the product lifecycle, establishing technology frameworks for overall solutions. This position plays a pivotal role in mentoring junior engineers and exemplifying the adoption of innovative technologies.

The responsibilities encompass constructing, managing, and supporting essential infrastructure and security services within public cloud environments to deliver highly reliable and scalable solutions. This includes automating processes to reduce manual tasks and ensuring compliance with security standards across the secure cloud ecosystem. Proficiency in native AWS and/or GCP infrastructure services such as IAM, networking, compute, storage, Kubernetes, and cloud functions is essential. Basic system administration tasks are also part of the role, alongside serving on the on-call team as a point of escalation for service incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement intricate public cloud solutions (AWS, GCP).
  • Utilize configuration management and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Python, Chef, and Cloud Deployment Manager).
  • Achieve product goals and inspire others through informal leadership and strong communication skills, contributing to or leading technology communities.
  • Employ automation, system tools, open-source solutions, and 'security-first' principles in daily operations.
  • Participate in team agile ceremonies, lead demonstrations and presentations, and assist new engineers in understanding established practices.
  • Initiate high-level solution design strategies and guide the team to attain key software delivery capabilities through automated and coded enterprise observability.
  • Engage in internal speaking and advocacy events.
  • Support research initiatives to adopt new technological solutions for developing new capabilities.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and create opportunities for core product teams to learn engineering best practices.
  • Mentor the immediate team and actively promote the adoption of new technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

To be considered, you should possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, or a related discipline.
  • Internal candidates must have a technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale.

Additional Skills That Would Be Beneficial:

  • Experience with GCP and AWS public cloud in a production setting.
  • A growth mindset with enthusiasm for quickly learning new technologies and applying that knowledge to solve business challenges.
  • Comfortable collaborating within agile teams composed of diverse skill sets (e.g., Quality Assurance Engineers, User Experience Designers, Software Engineers/Architects).
  • Able to work with stakeholders and project leaders to comprehend requirements, deliverables, and set expectations for assigned tasks.
  • Consistently demonstrates reliability in fulfilling commitments to customers and colleagues, embracing the challenge of unfamiliar tasks.
  • Experience with Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Open Shift.

Compensation:

The base salary for this role typically ranges between $86,500.00 to $146,000. Additional incentives may be included as part of a competitive total compensation package. Factors such as geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may influence the pay for this position.
