Position Overview:

The George Washington University Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) Division is in search of a Lead Prospect Research Analyst.

Role Summary:

DAR is dedicated to spearheading the university's alumni engagement and fundraising initiatives, fostering a culture of philanthropy within the university community, which includes alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, corporations, foundations, patients, and other supporters. Our mission is to enhance GW's commitment to excellence in education, research, scholarship, and patient care.

This advanced role involves conducting in-depth research on potential prospects to bolster fundraising activities with minimal supervision. Key responsibilities include:

  • Gathering and analyzing data on potential donors, ensuring the information is synthesized and presented in an accessible format.
  • Identifying prospects through various screening methods and routine activities.
  • Preparing comprehensive reports that provide critical insights to guide engagement and solicitation strategies.
  • Collaborating with fundraising teams to ensure optimal donor engagement.
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to team members, including managing students or junior staff.

Essential Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, along with a minimum of two years of pertinent professional experience, or a Master's degree in a related discipline. The degree must be conferred by the commencement of employment. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in prospect development.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities to effectively collaborate with frontline fundraisers.
  • Proven ability to work within a team-oriented environment, including experience in training others.
  • Familiarity with formal project management methodologies and the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively amidst competing demands.
  • Proficient in utilizing technology to communicate findings, with experience in relational databases, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of privacy laws and ethical standards in handling sensitive information.

Compensation and Benefits:

The hiring range for this position is $57,000 to $79,165.63. GW offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid time off, retirement savings, tuition assistance, and various voluntary benefits.

Work Environment:

This position is based in a hybrid work environment, requiring on-site presence. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday during daytime hours.

Successful completion of a background screening is a prerequisite for employment.
