Position Overview:
The Development Strategy and Governance Unit at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is seeking a skilled individual to take on the role of Research Analyst I. This position is a full-time, renewable opportunity based at IFPRI's headquarters. The selected candidate will provide analytical support for quantitative research on diverse subjects, including agricultural productivity, market dynamics, migration trends, agriculture-nutrition connections, individual aspirations, public investment strategies, and political economy considerations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the cleaning and management of data, as well as the collection and analysis of datasets using statistical software.
- Contribute to various aspects of econometric research.
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and synthesize findings.
- Support the drafting and refinement of research documents, policy briefs, technical guidance, and presentations.
- Engage in knowledge sharing and stay updated on relevant literature, policies, and best practices in agriculture, economic development, and poverty alleviation.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, International Development, or a related field, along with two years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in the same areas.
- Proficiency in data management and analysis using statistical software, particularly Stata, along with familiarity with econometric identification strategies.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results within deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, with the capability to provide updates, propose next steps, and convey research findings effectively.
- Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills independently.
- Experience in conducting literature reviews and drafting research papers and policy briefs.
- Ability to prepare and deliver research presentations.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, multicultural environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in work.
- Proficient in English, with strong writing, speaking, and editing abilities.
- Willingness to travel internationally, if necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in conducting research in developing nations.
- Background in research paper and proposal development.
Work Environment:
- Position requires prolonged periods of sitting.
- Ability to lift light weights (0-10 pounds).
- Close visual acuity is necessary for tasks such as data analysis and extensive reading.
Compensation: The anticipated salary range for this position is between $55,600 and $69,500, depending on experience and job-related factors.
