Our services encompass independent living, employment assistance, and case management for adults, while providing personalized support and skills training for children. We also connect families with vital resources, support networks, enjoyable activities, and respite care.

Since its inception in the 1980s, UCP Family Support has been dedicated to assisting families of children with cerebral palsy and similar disabilities. Our mission is to provide essential information, resources, and support to these families, helping them build networks and achieve stability. A key aspect of this role involves connecting parents with one another through organized support groups, family events, training sessions, and a biennial Family Support Conference. Additionally, we offer Respitality and Date Night Services, providing parents with opportunities for relaxation and rejuvenation.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in creating new avenues for family engagement, enhancing resource accessibility, and delivering training and technical assistance to improve parenting skills.

Work Schedule & Location
  • This position entails a commitment of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
  • Your schedule will be flexible and self-directed following the training period. Some evening and weekend hours may be necessary to accommodate family meetings, with adjustments made during weekdays as needed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome new families to UCP's Family Support Services by providing them with Newly-Diagnosed packets and information about early intervention and developmental disability resources.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with families regarding in-home support, training, and resource navigation through phone and email.
  • Plan, promote, and execute events for families and children, including monthly support groups, family outings, training sessions, and the biennial Family Support Conference.
  • Engage in legislative advocacy to enhance services for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
  • Collaborate with family organizations across Oregon to stay informed about resources and legislative developments.
  • Draft grant proposals and supporting documents in line with organizational funding requirements.
  • Represent UCP Family Support at conferences and present at Development Disability team meetings to inform county caseworkers about available services.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of the biennial Family Support Conference, including:
    • Leading the Family Support Task Force in conference planning and implementation.
    • Applying for grants to cover conference expenses and scholarships for attendees.
    • Coordinating logistics for space and meals.
    • Creating and updating promotional materials for the conference.
    • Identifying and scheduling speakers, including keynote presenters and workshop moderators.
    • Recruiting and coordinating vendors and volunteers for conference support.
    • Determining scholarship recipients for conference attendance.
    • Managing online registration for attendees.
    • Organizing conference raffle items.
    • Creating and updating presentation materials for the conference.
    • Conducting post-conference evaluation surveys.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in developmental disabilities, social services, education, mental health, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups.
  • Experience in planning, promoting, and executing events of varying scales.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within the disability community, either as a family member or caregiver of an individual with a disability, or through work with marginalized communities.
  • Prior experience in non-profit organizations is advantageous.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Hourly wage ranges from $28.92 to $32.19, based on experience. Annual increases based on performance.
  • Eligibility for overtime pay for hours exceeding 40 per week.
