Beverage Supervisor Job Description

Job Summary:

The Beverage Supervisor is a key member of our team, responsible for the overall operation and profitability of assigned venues. This role ensures the development and maintenance of well-performing teams, achieving financial and enterprise objectives, maintaining proper inventory control, and providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the operation of bars to maximize profitability, minimize legal liability, and conform to alcoholic beverage regulations.
  • Adhere to department policies and procedures, ensuring team members are trained in all requirements.
  • Continuously evaluate operations to determine if efficiencies can be improved.
  • Makes recommendations for policy/procedure modifications when required, in advance of implementing changes.
  • Monitor changes in law or regulations to stay in compliance with alcohol service, and assist in the development of security infrastructures and policies.
  • Act as a thought leader and innovator, identifying, developing, and continuously improving security and training practices.
  • Manage assigned headcount to ensure expenses remain within budget, overtime is minimal, and all team members are properly trained to perform their duties.
  • Create guidelines to sustain a highly energized culture and engaged work environment, ensuring an optimal restaurant and entertainment experience.
  • Implement training programs that ensure high-quality service, including training in service and food and beverage products offered.
  • Manage budgeted revenue, beverage cost, expense, headcount, and profit for assigned venues, providing explanations for any unfavorable variances and preparing action plans to track favorably to budget.
  • Perform research and analysis of sales, trends, and expenses to prepare budgets and establish business plans, maintaining projected relationships between revenue and other items to maintain margin percentages.
  • Closely monitor customer satisfaction and address and resolve customer complaints promptly.
  • Direct internal and external investigations in conjunction with Human Resources to gather, analyze, and document information regarding incidents and losses, identify responsible parties, and identify gaps or failures in internal control processes.

Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities:

In addition to the other duties described herein, each Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations.

  • Attend required training sessions offered by the Company.
  • Obtain and retain required licenses.
  • Perform duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Take necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco.
  • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member's department.
  • Have knowledge of the Property's programs to address problem gaming.
  • Report any acts of wrongdoing of which the Team Member may have knowledge.

Education, Training, and Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in restaurant management or a related field, with a minimum of five years of beverage service supervisory/management experience in a high-volume entertainment bar restaurant with high-quality food, extensive beer and spirits offerings, and a high-energy atmosphere with live entertainment.

The candidate should also have intermediate proficiency in Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and be at least 21 years of age. The ability to stand for longer than 8 hours and lift, push, and pull up to 20 pounds is also required.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

Virginia Racing Commission License and a valid Driver's License with a minimum of three years of driving experience are required.
