Role Summary and Qualifications

The Respiratory Care Specialist is responsible for coordinating and providing high-quality, patient-focused respiratory care in line with departmental needs and professional standards.

As an integral member of the patient care team, you will conduct various diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures while monitoring patients on both invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.


Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and document thorough patient assessments, including breath sounds and airway integrity.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations to determine the necessity and effectiveness of respiratory therapies.
- Administer respiratory treatments, including oxygen therapy and aerosol medications.
- Assist in the placement of artificial airways and manage mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patient responses to therapy and communicate with providers regarding any concerns.
- Ensure airway security and adequate ventilation during emergency situations.

Qualifications:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification required within 30 days of employment.
- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) certification from the Texas Medical Board and RRT license from the NBRC.
- Associate Degree from an accredited respiratory therapy program.
- Preferred: Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
- Night shift availability required; must be able to work from 6:30 pm to 6:30 am.

Preferred experience in NICU and pediatrics is advantageous.
