Position Summary and Qualifications

The Respiratory Care Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-focused respiratory care tailored to departmental needs and aligned with state and specialty practice standards.

As an essential member of the patient care team, the Respiratory Care Specialist will:
- Conduct patient assessments, including evaluating breath sounds and airway integrity.
- Perform diagnostic tests to determine the necessity and effectiveness of respiratory therapies.
- Administer various respiratory treatments, including oxygen therapy and aerosol medication.
- Assist in the placement of artificial airways and manage mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patient responses to therapy and intervene as necessary.
- Provide support during patient transport, especially for those reliant on ventilators.
- Respond to emergency situations, ensuring airway security and effective ventilation during resuscitation efforts.

Qualifications Required:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment.
- Neonate Resuscitation certification within 30 days of employment.
- Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP) through the Texas Medical Board.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist certification from the NBRC.
- Associate Degree from an accredited respiratory program.
- Preferred experience of 1-2 years in pediatrics, NICU, and adult care; new graduates are welcome to apply.
