Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, and quality assurance protocols.
  • Prepare equipment and medications, administering respiratory treatments as prescribed by physicians; document treatment responses and progress.
  • Set up, operate, and monitor ventilators for patients unable to breathe independently.
  • Perform arterial punctures and analyze arterial blood samples.
  • Monitor patients, check equipment, and make necessary adjustments during rounds.
  • Document patient vital signs and equipment settings as required.
  • Provide guidance on therapeutic procedures to patients, families, or staff.
  • Ensure high-quality respiratory therapy services and collaborate with medical, nursing, and administrative teams.
  • Assist with special procedures, including pulmonary function tests and bronchoscopy.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of all respiratory therapy equipment to ensure patient safety.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Performance Improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care required.
  • Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Texas Medical Board - Respiratory Care Practitioner license required.
  • NBRC certification as a CRT is mandatory.
  • Availability to work 2 day shifts per 4-week rotation, including 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year.
