Key Responsibilities- Adhere to established departmental policies, procedures, and quality assurance protocols.
- Prepare equipment and medications, administering respiratory treatments as prescribed by physicians; document treatment responses and progress.
- Set up, operate, and monitor ventilators for patients unable to breathe independently.
- Perform arterial punctures and analyze arterial blood samples.
- Monitor patients, check equipment, and make necessary adjustments during rounds.
- Document patient vital signs and equipment settings as required.
- Provide guidance on therapeutic procedures to patients, families, or staff.
- Ensure high-quality respiratory therapy services and collaborate with medical, nursing, and administrative teams.
- Assist with special procedures, including pulmonary function tests and bronchoscopy.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of all respiratory therapy equipment to ensure patient safety.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Performance Improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in critical care required.
- Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Texas Medical Board - Respiratory Care Practitioner license required.
- NBRC certification as a CRT is mandatory.
- Availability to work 2 day shifts per 4-week rotation, including 1 major and 1 minor holiday per year.
